Clip Tool

Install and licence

No developer tools are needed.

  1. Install the Ableton Live 12 Suite beta, version 12.4.5 or later. Suite owners get it through Ableton’s beta programme, and it installs as a separate copy of Live.
  2. Download clip-tool.ablx from the latest release, linked from kerfaudio.com/products/clip-tool.
  3. In the Live beta, open Settings › Extensions (Preferences › Extensions on some systems).
  4. Drag the clip-tool.ablx file onto the panel.
  5. Restart Live if Clip Tool does not show up straight away. Live loads extensions when it starts.
  6. Right-click any audio clip and choose Clip Tool.

Clip Tool only shows when you right-click an audio clip. If it does not load at all, check that Developer Mode is off in the Extensions settings. If you run a lot of extensions, try turning some off for a moment: the beta can struggle to load many at once.

Remove Clip Tool in Settings › Extensions. Samples it has already written stay in your projects.

Ableton Live 12 Suite beta, 12.4.5 or later, on macOS or Windows. Extensions are not in Live Standard, Intro or Lite, or in the release version of Live yet.
